Welcome to the very first issue of The Traveling Tome newsletter!
Our book club has grown quite a bit from where we started, and we wanted a place to keep everything together: what we’re reading, where we’re meeting, what’s coming next, and all the little bits of Faebles news that are especially for our Traveling Tome members.
So here we are. Welcome to September. 🍂
And yes, we know Coastal Georgia is still approximately 147 degrees outside. We’re choosing to believe in fall anyway.
September’s Read: The Maid’s Diary
This month, we’re reading The Maid’s Diary by Loreth Anne White.
We’ll meet Sunday, September 27 at 11:00 AM at Joyful Java in Pooler to talk about it all—the theories, the suspicions, and those moments that made you stop reading and go, wait... WHAT?
Bring all of it.
And if you can’t join us in person, you absolutely do not have to miss the meeting.
We Have a New Book Club Home!
We’re very excited to share that Faebles is partnering with Joyful Java, formerly Stir Coffee, in Pooler, and we’ve secured their conference room for the rest of our 2026 Traveling Tome meetings.
- September 27 — 11:00 AM
- November 1 — 11:00 AM (our October meeting)
- November 29 — 11:00 AM
- December 27 — 11:00 AM
Our regular schedule remains the last Sunday of the month; October’s meeting simply scoots over one week to November 1.
Can’t join us in Pooler? Join us online!
Every Traveling Tome meeting includes a virtual option. Whether you’re joining us from across town, across the country, or simply from your couch because leaving the house isn't happening that day, you can still be part of the discussion.

The Meeting Is Only One Day. The Book Club Is All Month Long.
That’s where Fable comes in.
Our Traveling Tome Fable group is our book club between meetings—a place for reading prompts, reactions, theories, spoiler-conscious conversation, and all those thoughts you desperately need to tell somebody right now while you’re reading.
It also gives members who can’t attend a meeting another way to stay connected to the group throughout the month.
The meeting is only one day. The book club is all month long.

Next Up: How to Lose a Goblin in 10 Days
October is going to be a completely different kind of Traveling Tome.
We’re reading How to Lose a Goblin in 10 Days by Jessie Sylva, and we are leaning all the way into cozy autumn reading.
And yes, your October Traveling Tome box is already taking shape.
No spoilers yet, but keep your eyes peeled for the unveiling this week.
Coming Up on the Traveling Tome Bookshelf
Thanks to your votes, we have our Traveling Tome reads lined up all the way through February:
- October: How to Lose a Goblin in 10 Days — Jessie Sylva
- November: Night Road — Kristin Hannah
- December: The Girls We Sent Away — Meagan Church
- January: Behind Closed Doors — B. A. Paris
- February: Before I Let You Go — Kelly Rimmer
And while we have a few months planned ahead, keep those recommendations coming!
Each month, we post a poll in the Traveling Tome Facebook Group asking what’s on your TBR? Your comments help us build the list of books that eventually makes its way to the Traveling Tome vote—and ultimately into your box.
So when you see those posts, tell us what you’ve been dying to read. And you never have to wait for the poll, either. If there’s a book you think would make a great Traveling Tome read, always feel free to share it with the group.
This book club is yours, too, and your recommendations and votes help decide where we travel next. ❤️
And One More Thing for Our Fantasy Readers...
Fall fantasy and romantasy season is coming in hot, and Faebles has plenty planned.
But there’s one announcement in particular we’re sitting on.
If you’re an ACOTAR fan, keep your eyes on Faebles this week.
We have something BIG coming.
And because you’re a Traveling Tome member?
You’ll get first dibs.
Thanks for being part of this little book club of ours—and for helping it become something much bigger than a once-a-month meeting.
Here’s to another month of good books, questionable characters, excellent tea, and having people to talk to when the plot goes completely off the rails.
Happy reading,
Shannon
